Club Constitution

 

1. This Club shall be called East Kilbride Road Club and shall be affiliated to the Scottish CyclingUnion.(Company Number SC261263) (hereafter referred to as Scottish Cycling).

2. The Club is a section of the Rolls-Royce Recreational Society Lanarkshire Branch and thegoverning rules of the Society shall be the governing rules of the Club.

3. The management of the Club shall be by a Management Committee consisting of the ClubOfficials, all to be elected annually.

4. The Club Officials shall be: Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer and such other Secretaries(Racing, Social, Publicity), as the activities of the Club may require.

5. The Committee of Management shall consist of the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and two others who shall be elected by the general body of the members at the Annual General Meeting. Not more than five of the said members shall be other than ordinary members. The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer shall be elected from the Ordinary members. The Committee of Management must be in a minority of the elected quorum.

6. Any member of the committee absent from three consecutive meetings without affordingreasonable explanation shall be deemed to have resigned, and the committee shall fill the vacancy.

7. Membership shall be as defined by the constitution of The Recreational Society Of Rolls-Royce.

8. The annual subscription shall be as determined annually by the Annual General Meeting due on November in each year.

9. Club members, whether or not individual members of British Cycling / Scottish Cycling are required to accept and co-operate in the enforcement of the Rules (including but without prejudice the generality of Articles, Byelaws,Technical regulations discipline,anti-doping rules,Codes of Conduct and Codes of Ethics) of Scottish Cycling.

10. Club colours shall be Blue, White and Black

11. Members shall be entitled to apply for British Cycling/Scottish Cycling membership in the name of the Club.

12. The Objectives of the Club will be to help introduce new and novice cyclists to Road Cycling, educating and supporting them in finding their way in Road Cycling, bringing them to a level to go further in the sport should they so desire. At the same time supporting all Club members in their goals and doing our upmost to promote cycling in a positive fashion.

13. Club members will be expected to attend Club Meetings, Club Championships (in the capacity of rider or helper). Members will be expected when the Club has organised an Official Event to make themselves available for marshalling or helping in some capacity. Members will be expected at all times to adhere to the Laws of the Highway Code.

14. Every individual desirous of becoming a member shall complete an application form and submit this to the Treasurer with the entrance fee and after being proposed and seconded, the application shall be considered by the Management Committeeat the next meeting.If the applicant may not be elected, the entrance fee shall be returnable.

15. Any member not paying his subscription within three months after November 1st of each year (in the case of a new member within three months after election) shall be deemed to have resigned, and forfeited all rights and priveleges accruing his membership.

Meetings:

16. The Annual General Meeting will be held in November. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be convened by the management committee or on the written request of 7 members to the Secretary. On receipt of such a letter the Secretary must call a meeting within 30 days. At all General Meetings eleven members shall form a quorum. In the event of an equality of votes the Chairman shall have a casting vote.

Treasurer:

17. The Treasurer shall act in accordance with the instructions regarding finance issued by the RR Recreational Society. Correct accounts and books shall be kept by the Treasurer showing the financial affairs and intromissions of the Club. He shall collect all subscriptions, entry monies, etc due to the Club, and shall deposit same with the Society.

18. The financial year shall end on 31st December annually. Disputes:

19. All disputes between members shall be referred to the Committee of Management whose decision shall be final.

Amendments Of Rules:

20. No new rule shall be made, nor shall any of the rules herein contained or hereafter to be made, be amended or rescinded unless with the consent of a three fourths majority of the members present and voting at a General Meeting specially called for that purpose, and with the consent in writing of the Management Committee of the the Recreational Society.
